Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic Project Engineer to join Villari. In this role you will join a team of project engineers working on the implementation of our unique sensor systems for monitoring crack growth in steel structures globally. You will collaborate with your colleagues and clients to organize and implement tailored sensor deployments and manage project execution and service.

This role requires a balance of technical expertise and strong communication skills. The position involves designing sensor coverage based on structural/inspection reports together with your colleagues from business development. Part of the role will be (international) travel to our clients: container terminals, open mining pits, steel manufacturing plants, wind farms, and major infrastructure projects across the globe, where you will execute or guide the implementation of your plan. Thereafter, you will be the main point of contact for that client, cooperating with your colleagues from data analysis, providing meaningful results from our sensor data.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Be the first point of contact for clients
Maintain close communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle. Translate our sensor system’s monitoring results into clear, practical insights which our clients and partners can confidently act upon.

  • Design and execute sensor deployments
Work closely with clients, partner companies, and internal teams to understand project requirements and review technical drawings. Translate these into practical sensor placement layouts that meet technical and business objectives.

  • Coordinate and execute installations
Take ownership of the installation process from start to finish. This includes planning logistics, scheduling, and ensuring resources are in place. Depending on the project, you will either guide clients remotely or carry out hands-on installations on-site, sometimes in challenging environments.

About Us

At Villari, we are dedicated to extending the lifetime of steel structures in ports, infrastructure, and the steel industry through our certified crack detection technology. Our permanently installed wireless sensors detect even the smallest fatigue cracks in critical locations of bridges and cranes by analyzing variations in the magnetic field over time. Compared to traditional methods, we offer continuous and accurate inspection, carefree installation, competitive pricing, and certified technology. Our unique and patented solution has earned the trust of esteemed clients such as ArcelorMittal, MISTRAS, DP World, and many more. We take pride in our extensive coverage of 2500 sensors deployed across 13 countries in 5 continents, ensuring the safety and longevity of critical steel structures worldwide with a team of 23 employees, based in Delft.

Villari’s core values are the following:

  1. Integrity - We are honest about what we know and what we don't know for certain. We treat our data with the greatest care and understand that it is of utmost importance in this critical industrial environment in which we operate. There is always room to address doubts and uncertainties, such that nothing is swept under the rug.

  2. Expertise - Our company is delivering seriously high-tech service: we’re not building a new app to order pizza. The combination of fatigue crack growth, ferromagnetic flux leakage, and seamless wireless communication is our unique domain in which we work with a proud team of highly-skilled and intellectual people. Customers rely on us because we know what we’re doing.

  3. Accountability - We take responsibility for our actions. There’s no “not my problem” or “I don’t care” attitude at Villari. Learning from each other and carrying a both collective and individual feeling of ownership is extremely important in order to be an effective and well-balanced team.

  4. Exploration - Villari was founded on the idea that we were bold enough to take complex physics and turn it into a meaningful product for our clients. As such we’ve pushed quite some boundaries along the way and we’re not afraid to turn left where others go right. On all levels people should be encouraged to try out new things and to test “wild ideas”. We understand and accept that new ideas sometimes turn out to be unsuccessful, as this is an integral part of exploring.

  5. Approachability - As a company, and as individuals, we want to always be open for discussion, feedback, doubts, or just a casual chat about a topic unrelated to work. This goes towards clients, suppliers, colleagues, and towards superiors and direct reports. We help each other out and listen when others have something to say, regardless of seniority.

These values are at the core of our business and identity and it's very important that all our employees identify with these values.
